International Center for Pashto Studies

This Center was established in 1354 with the support of UNISCO through an international seminar in Kabul and its structure has been approved in 1355. During this time Pakistan was struggling to establish this center in Pakistan and it also officially requested such center from UNISCO. 

Coincidently the same international research center for Persian language was established in Iran by support of UNISCO.

The aims of this center were to make a study plans to arrange national, regional and international research activities on anthropology, Sociology, History and linguistics and also to conduct research on Pashto language dialects, history of Pashtuns, literature and arts and for transactions of modern and advanced thoughts into Pashto language’s promotion .

Since 1357, this center merged into Academy of Sciences of Afghanistan, and till date it is works under the management of Academy of Sciences of Afghanistan and it publishes its journal (Pashto) since 1356 in UNISCO languages.

Despite the fragile situation in the country, this center has well conducted its academic-research activities on deferent aspects of Pashtun’s life, such as Pashtun tribes, residence of Pashtuns in India and their interaction with Moghuls and other kings, terminology of Pashtun tribes, Pashtun nomads, structure of Pashtun’s socio-economic, ethnography of Pashtuns, Pashto grammar, Pashto linguistic, landays, Proverbs, collecting Pashto old vocabulary, critical view of poems dewans. Collecting of Pashto manuscripts and also translations of books from other language in to Pashto and so on. 

 

The Pashto International center for research has a plan to investigate and collect   Pashto manuscripts from India, Pakistan, France, Iran and some other countries. Also, this center has the intention to collect those research books which are written in foreign countries about Pashtuns translate them and so on do research on Pashtun’s literature and  cultural condition  outside Afghanistan like India, Iran, Pakistan, Russia and some other countries.
