Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) is a recent innovation in the field of technology that has permeated nearly every aspect of human life, triggering transformations across various domains. From medicine to criminal justice, and from international law to interpersonal and transportation-related interactions, AI has had a profound impact, leading it to be regarded as a revolutionary force.

AI has introduced numerous conveniences into human life and has proven to be highly beneficial. For instance, there are machines that operate autonomously without human intervention and can even outperform humans in certain tasks. In the legal sector, the use of AI contributes to the improvement of practical legal functions and the enhancement of legal processes, offering advantages to both public and private institutions.

Despite these benefits, AI presents several challenges—common to many advanced systems—but this paper does not focus on general difficulties. Rather, it explores how AI technology influences the theoretical and practical dimensions of law. The paper also examines potential risks associated with AI usage, particularly the issue of legal responsibility: Who is to be held accountable when damage arises from the use of AI systems? Additionally, matters concerning privacy, personal data protection, and the privileges of invention and discovery under intellectual property law are also investigated.

This research adopts a descriptive-analytical method and draws on a range of sources, including academic papers, instructional videos, legislative documents, and conventions. These resources have been utilized to develop context-specific solutions suitable for the legal landscape of Afghanistan.
